DC Skateboarding Releases Clip of the Rediscover the Road Tour

DC shoes just released a clip from their new skate team's first trip on the Rediscover the Road tour. The highly anticipated clip features their all-star roster including Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, and Mike Mo Capaldi.

Mike Mo joined DC's powerhouse team in January. And although he's been on plenty of skateboarding road trips in his career, the latest one, with his new team, allowed him to rediscover the best of what the road has to offer. The first clip, from the three-week trip in Australia, is presented through Mo's perspective.

After an exciting day of slopestyle finals at the 6Star Burton US Open, Sebastien Toutant (CAN) and Jamie Anderson (USA) have been officially crowned the 2012 TTR Slopestyle World Tour Champions. The 2011/2012 season was packed full of amazing slopestyle competitions around the globe and after today's finals at Stratton Mountain in Vermont, USA, Sebastien and Jamie were awarded with the TTR Slopestyle Tour Champion trophies. Sebastien clinched the title with his win in today's slopestyle competition and Jamie set her title in stone with her first place finish, as well.The slopestyle finals at the 30th Anniversary of the Burton US Open featured a high level of competition today in both the men's and women's events. The women's finals kicked off in the morning on the slopestyle course where Jamie Anderson displayed her buttery smooth style on the jumps and rails. Jamie's second run was her best of the day and earned her the victory with a frontboard to fakie, Cab 720 nose grab, switch backside 540 mute, tailslide to 270 out and finished with a 50-50 to backside 180 out. Kjersti Buaas (NOR) had a solid run to take second place and Enni Rukajarvi (FIN) ended up in third.This is Jamie's third TTR Champion title of her career and was very happy with her season saying, "It has been another great season and I am very stoked to pick up another TTR World Tour title. It's my favorite discipline and I was happy to seal it off with a first place today!"The men dropped into the slopestyle course in the afternoon and it was a tight battle to the end. After falling on his first two runs, Sebastien Toutant put it all together on his third and final with a Cab hardway to 270 on, Cab double cork 1260 melon, frontside double cork 1080 mute, frontside wallride to 270 out and ended with a 50-50 to backside rodeo out. Ulrik Badertscher (NOR) came in second place and Seppe Smitts (BEL) completed the podium in third.

The TTR Overall World Tour Champion titles were a tough reach for many riders who focus on one discipline, but Stale and Cilka Sadar are consistent in both pipe and slopestyle which is a growing rarity in snowboarding these days. Cilka registered 14 TTR results throughout the season with almost a perfect balance of entries in halfpipe an slopestyle disciplines making her one of the most versatile women snowboarders in the world today. Stale Sanbech (NOR) also registered 14 TTR results throughout the season across slopestyle, halfpipe and big air disciplines. Although he wasn't able to get a top spot in halfpipe, Stale took podium spots in slopestyle at the Burton New Zealand Open and in big air at the Air & Style Beijing. When asked how he feels about winning the TTR Overall title, Stale said, "I wasn't really going for it at the start of the season, but then I was leading and thought 'wow', maybe i can actually do this! Now at the end, it was exciting. 'It is really cool to be part of that legendary list of riders who won it before."

Adidas' Skateboardable Art

Adidas Skateboarding rented out a large warehouse in Paris this February for their creative skate event, 'The Obstacle,'

which featured a massive skateable sculpture designed by Mark Gonzales and Rich 'Badger' Holland.

Gonzales was up to his usual shenanigans, along with pro riders Lucas Puig, Silas Baxter-Neal, and Benny Fairfax. There were also art displays, board demos , and skate lessons for the kids from the pros on hand.

Evan Doherty, 9, is youngest skateboarder to conquer MegaRamp

More on Yahoo: Ex-NFL Football Player Comes to the Rescue in Bus Crash

Though Doherty made his run look easy (after several unsuccessful tries), consider that MegaRamp skateboarders must soar at least 70 feet across one gap and land on a downhill ramp leading to a nearly-sheer quarterpipe wall. They then soar high above the quarterpipe and must negotiate a successful landing with only hands and gravity to keep the board underfoot.

(To get an idea of how heavy the consequences may be for MegaRamp riders, see footage of Jake Brown's world-famous slam during the 2007 X Games. Brown, somehow, made a full recovery.)

In recent years, a handful of younger skaters have boldly climbed to the top of the MegaRamp, zoomed downward and never looked back.

Most notable among this younger generation was Mitchie Brusco, who last year, at 14, became only the second person to perform a 900-degree rotation above the quarterpipe wall. MegaRamp pioneer Bob Burnquist was the first to land a 900, in 2010.

Now that Doherty has shown he can ride the MegaRamp, it's probably only a matter of time before he's performing the kind of tricks that win X Games medals.

Said Burnquist: "The interesting thing I've been seeing with these kids is that they are so light on their skateboard that they have a hard time getting speed over the gap, and don't go as fast when they hit the quarterpipe. That's a perfect progression for mega.

"As they grow older, they will go faster and higher, and watch what happens in the next 10 years with these kids. I mean, you can see it right now with Mitchie and he's a veteran already."

Doherty, who is from Greenwood, Mo., completed one MegaRamp run Friday and two others Sunday during his trip to Woodward West in California.

"It was a little bit scary getting such a high air but really, REALLY amazing to land," he stated, via email.

TTR Burton US Open HAlfpipe and TTR Tour Finale

The last contest of the season, the 6Star Burton US Open Halfpipe event, came to a dramatic conclusion, with 4 new TTR World Tour champions crowned.A huge crowd turned up to see who would win the TTR Halfpipe Tour trophies as well as the prestigious TTR Overall World Tour titles.After dominating all season Kelly Clark had the fully support of her fans behind her as she dropped in and scored a 83.56 straight out of the gate.Elana Hight surprised everyone knocking Kelly Clark into second place with a great second run. Kelly tried to answer in her third run, but had to be happy with second place which was still enough to secure the TTR Halfpipe World Tour title.The Mens competition got off to an explosive Start with Shaun White throwing a 90.44 in the first run.Only the Americans were able to keep up with Shaun's red hot performance. Benji Farrow landed a great final run to take home 3rd place while Louie Vito gave everything he had, scoring just 1 point less than Shaun and taking 2nd on the day.After an amazingly consistent season and a strong result at the US Open, Iouri Podladtchikov became the TTR Halfpipe World Tour Champion.The renowned TTR Overall Tour Champion Trophy celebrates all-round performance and consistence over a year long season. Going into the US Open Cilka Sadar had already secured her title, but the mens trophy was still up for grabs. The three favourites in the running were Stale Sandbech, Janne Korpi and Christian Haller. Janne need a top 5 finish in half pipe to beat stale. As he dropped in for last run he knew he had to make it count. He didn't make it. Now only Christian Haller had the chance to take the title with a second place finishWith Christian ending up in fourth place, Stale sandbech became the TTR Overall World Tour Champion.

TTR Halfpipe Tour Champions - Iouri Podladtchikov and Kelly Clark

The 2011/2012 TTR World Tour came to a close at the 6Star Burton US Open with men's and women's halfpipe finals. After a gripping season full of countless highlights, Iouri Podladtchikov (SUI) and Kelly Clark (USA) clinched the TTR Halfpipe World Tour Champion titles. Kelly Clark took a podium spot once again to receive the TTR World Tour Champion trophy for her clear domination in the halfpipe over the course of the season. Although Kelly didn’t manage to come in first in her home state after being undefeated in 16 consecutive contests, she undeniably sets the standard for women's halfpipe snowboarding. It was Elena Hight (USA), finishing the season in World No. 4 in the TTR Halfpipe Rankings, who broke Kelly's string of wins with less than a one point difference today. Kelly had this to say about her second TTR title win, "I’m super happy to have won this, it has been a competition at every event and the other girls have really pushed me to level where I am right now."Iouri Podladtchikov also had an amazing season standing atop podiums at every TTR competition he entered. Reaching back to the Burton New Zealand Open where Iouri took third place, he continued his season of success with a first place finish at the World Snowboarding Championships in Oslo, Norway and won again at the Burton European Open in Laax, Switzerland. He capped off his season nicely with the coveted win here at the US Open.

The Burton Academy at Northstar Trick Tip: The Method

A must have classic trick that shows your skill and knowledge of snowboard history... See Craig Kelly Vids! It's easy to think that this is just a grab but there are so many stylistic differences and variations on this one it can be confusing to know what a real method is. The key ingredients are a strong pop followed by pulling the knees up toward the chest. Next grab melon (lead hand on the heelside edge between the feet). There has to be a backside shifty that is starting to come around as you grab melon. then the legs and hips start to move into position. The hips drive forward as the feet start to move back (the base now facing back) and the rear leg is extending as much as possible. Those are the moves in the air for the classic pose and it has several steps to create the classic (respectable) style. On the ground is where it all starts... In your approach set up with a heelside turn followed by a toe side turn. Ride up the transition on a lightly engaged toe side edge and set your shoulders closed slightly (lead shoulder pointed toward the toe side edge). This slight shoulder lead sets up the backside shifty. Ollie hard into this trick as it sets up the shifty and helps get your board floating up to you. After you pop its time to start with all the ingredients listed above and don't forget to counter with the shoulders so that you can control the shifty. after you have the grab and are posing it out with the legs beside to keep looking over your lead shoulder and reach all the way forward with your back hand (this helps the counter).

TTR Sony Ericsson Fest 2012 - Wrap Up

Huge Kicker, Masif tricks, Nice atmospehere and Easy riders that’s 12th Sony Ericsson Snowboard Fest!Ski resort Park Snow Donovaly has experienced great snowboard show on Saturday. Fifty best riders from 9 countries of Europe came to encourage 1,500 fans who have created an unforgettable atmosphere. They managed to arouse professional riders; they were shown the tricks, what we can see here in Slovakia only once a year and this just because of the biggest and best snowboard snow - SONY ERICSSON SNOWBOARD FEST. The winner became 20 years old rider from Norway, Jorn Simen Aaboe.Jorn Siemen Aaboe stole the show with the switch backside double cork 1080 mute nose bone and massive backside double backflip 180. Second came Slovenian rider Aljosa Krivec with the sweet frontside 10 indy and backside 1260 mute. Third rider was from Austria. Mario Wagner pulled frontside 10 melon and ended his show with the huge backside 7 double grab.The biggest surprise and the greatest pleasure for me were, that finally, after more than six years of Sony Ericsson Snowboard Fest was in Final, rider from Slovakia, Matej Matys. He had a huge amount of competition and went to the end of his forces. I am very happy. For me, it's one of those top moments of this year. Said about evaluation ot the show its chief organizer Jozef Murín.The whole event culminated in the evening program in which ten finalists made so –called train – they were riding one after another, which feeds the fans almost to madness. The huge jump, which organizers built, enabled professional riders amazing tricks. Final ten snowboarders were: AABOE JORN SIMEN (Norway), KRIVEC ALJOSA (Slovenia), WAGNER MARIO (Austria), NORDGAARD TRYM (Norway), NE AS HONZA (Czech Republic), MATYS MATEJ (Slovakia), DE LA TORRE ALEXANDER (Sweden), PODLOGAR PETER (Slovenia), CINCA PATRICK (Germany) a KROLL CHRIS (Austria).

Nyjah Huston's Big Night at the TransWorld Skateboarding Awards

The skateboarding industry's elite made their way to Hollywood last night for the 14th annual TransWorld Skateboarding Awards-- honoring the best of the best from 2011.

The night belonged to Nyjah Huston for his outstanding 2011 season. Nyjah dominated the contest scene with three Street League victories and a gold medal at the X Games. He also released his highly anticipated film Rise and Shine while managing to bag the cover of multiple skateboard magazines.

Mighty Midwest Tour: Winter Park Resort

It feels good to be back in Colorado snowboarding long runs after a month straight of midwest touring. Day 1 of Winter Park was such a blast with our fellow Coloradans showing us how stoked they were to be there. Day 2 of our Winter Park stop was a blast. The winds died down, the temperature rose to about 40 degrees, and the set-up was prime. Thanks to all the campers giving the So-Gnar crew such a warm welcome back to Colorado.
