Weekly Grind 11-24-2010
Aussie Joel Parkinson, Skier JT Holmes, and EnduroCross champion Taddy Blazusiak headline this week's show. Parkinson returned to competition in a big way after being injured for six months. He won the Reef Hawaiian Pro, and his now poised to take his third straight Vans Triple Crown of Surfing Championship. Holmes caught up with Powder Magazine to talk about the differences and similarities between his skiing and skydiving passions. And Blazusiak ran the table in Vegas, winning the final stop of the EnduroCross series and the overall championship.

Lizard King The Entertainer
The infamous Lizard King showed up for a signing at Bryan Herman's Pharmacy skate shop in LA the other day and did his usual. If you've ever been to a contest, signing or demo Lizard is at then you know how much the kids love him. They chant his name, hound him for autographs and just simply want to be a part of the aura that is The King. And he always gives each one of them his time. Doughnut from Baker Boys Distribution was there to catch, this, the most recent Lizard show in the video below. He was all over the place with some spontaneous skateboarding that was 100% passion.
Besides the reptile, most of the Baker family was there including: Andrew Reynolds, Erik Ellington, Justin Roy, Nuge, Greco, Dollin, Braydon, Neen and more.

Crailtap Mini DV 54
Crailtap has released some more Mini DV raw footage from when Lakai was filming for a little flick entitled, "Fully Flared." This is recipe 54. So check out Marc Johnson, Mike Carroll and Eric Koston at work attempting to get clips for quite possibly the biggest skate video of all time.
MJ went on to win a "Thrasher Skater of the Year" trophy because of his section, Carroll got even more hypie and Koston said thanks for the part I'm off to Nike (and that was after Pappalardo already left for Converse, and Alex Olson for Vans).
In case you don't know, when you're a major skate company that makes major skate video releases, internet shorts and whatever else, there is a lot of leftover footage. That's what the Crailtap Mini DV series is all about, going back and releasing more. The number is actually the number of the tape used, so in this case they're up to 54.

GrindTV Newswire, via Alli Sports: Burr Ridge, Ill. - November 15, 2010 - The Gatorade Free Flow Tour today announced the complete schedule for the 2011 winter season. Returning for its second year, the Tour offers up-and-coming amateur snowboard and freeski athletes under 21 the chance to earn a pre-qualified spot in next season's Winter Dew Tour (2011-12). Hosting a total of 54 contests at ten parks this winter, the Tour officially kicks off January 15 in Wrightwood, Calif. at Mountain High Resort. Registration for all events is now available at www.gatoradefreeflowtour.com.
"We're looking forward to building upon the success of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour's inaugural winter season, and to see the first crop of winter champions compete at the Winter Dew Tour this December," said Gatorade action sports team manager, Carla Hess. "We've seen the momentum carry over from summer, and anticipate similar growth with our second year in the winter scene."
The Gatorade Free Flow Tour will showcase the top amateur winter athletes competing in snowboarding (slopestyle and superpipe) and freeskiing (slopestyle and superpipe). Snowboarding disciplines will have separate competitions for men and women, while the freeski contests will be open to both.
The 10-event schedule will include resorts in all areas of the United States - the East (3) and West Coasts (3), the Midwest (1), and the Rocky (2) and Wasatch Mountains (1). Open to all amateur snowboarders and freeskiers 21 and younger, registration for the Tour is available at www.gatoradefreeflowtour.com.
In addition to the main contests, each stop of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour will also include a Junior division, offering separate rail jam and superpipe contests for snowboard and freeski competitors 13 and under. The Junior Jam will take place prior to each of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour's Open Division competitions, giving young amateurs valuable contest experience.
Please note there are limited spots for all competitions, so register early. There is a $20 registration fee for one day of competition and a $30 registration fee to compete both days, which does not include lift tickets.

The winners in each of the 54 contests (30 slopestyle and 24 superpipe) will be flown to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, taking place in conjunction with the Winter Dew Tour's Toyota Championship, February 12-13 at Snowbasin Resort in Utah. Encompassing the "Flow to Pro" theme that is the cornerstone of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, the two overall snowboard superpipe and slopestyle champions and the overall freeski superpipe and slopestyle champions will earn a spot to compete against the pros at the first stop of the 2011-12 Winter Dew Tour the following season.
2011 REGISTRATION
All competitions are open to both male and female amateur competitors 21 and younger for all freeski and snowboard disciplines. There is a $20 entry fee, and all participants under the age of 18 must bring a parent or guardian to the event to sign a liability waiver. Contest registration forms, waivers and detailed information are available ahead of time at www.gatoradefreeflowtour.com.
"We're looking forward to building upon the success of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour's inaugural winter season, and to see the first crop of winter champions compete at the Winter Dew Tour this December," said Gatorade action sports team manager, Carla Hess. "We've seen the momentum carry over from summer, and anticipate similar growth with our second year in the winter scene."
The Gatorade Free Flow Tour will showcase the top amateur winter athletes competing in snowboarding (slopestyle and superpipe) and freeskiing (slopestyle and superpipe). Snowboarding disciplines will have separate competitions for men and women, while the freeski contests will be open to both.
The 10-event schedule will include resorts in all areas of the United States - the East (3) and West Coasts (3), the Midwest (1), and the Rocky (2) and Wasatch Mountains (1). Open to all amateur snowboarders and freeskiers 21 and younger, registration for the Tour is available at www.gatoradefreeflowtour.com.
In addition to the main contests, each stop of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour will also include a Junior division, offering separate rail jam and superpipe contests for snowboard and freeski competitors 13 and under. The Junior Jam will take place prior to each of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour's Open Division competitions, giving young amateurs valuable contest experience.
Please note there are limited spots for all competitions, so register early. There is a $20 registration fee for one day of competition and a $30 registration fee to compete both days, which does not include lift tickets.

Crailtap Mini DV 54
Crailtap has released some more Mini DV raw footage from when Lakai was filming for a little flick entitled, "Fully Flared." This is recipe 54. So check out Marc Johnson, Mike Carroll and Eric Koston at work attempting to get clips for quite possibly the biggest skate video of all time.
MJ went on to win a "Thrasher Skater of the Year" trophy because of his section, Carroll got even more hypie and Koston said thanks for the part I'm off to Nike (and that was after Pappalardo already left for Converse, and Alex Olson for Vans).
In case you don't know, when you're a major skate company that makes major skate video releases, internet shorts and whatever else, there is a lot of leftover footage. That's what the Crailtap Mini DV series is all about, going back and releasing more. The number is actually the number of the tape used, so in this case they're up to 54.
