Late this past summer, etnies embarked on a tour of Scandinavian Europe through Helsinki, Finland, Oslo, Norway, Copenhagen, Denmark and Amsterdam, Netherlands. Through some hangovers, twisted ankles and hot-pockets, all the dudes agreed it was one of the smoothest and most hitch-free trips they'd been on. However, there was one thing that loomed over everyone's head, everyday: Don't be the last to the van.

No Comply Skate Shop in Austin, Texas recently hosted the official release of the adidas skateboarding/Roger skateboards collaborative shoe line. They also premiered a short film produced by Roger's own Michael Sieben.

Vans high school based art design contest Custom Culture is back for a third year in 2012. Starting February 1st, art teachers from across the nation can register their school for participation . Inside the 2012 Surf Expo: Video's of Day 1, 2 & 3
Over 14,000 retailers, exhibitors and media from around the globe traveled to Orlando, FL for Surf Expo that was the biggest turnout since 2005.
This year the event took place January 12-14th and offered the chance to sneak a peek at over 2,500 brands for the summer and fall 2012 lines.

Roope Tonteri finishes 3rd at the 10th Red Bull Nanshan Open
Roope Tonteri (FIN) unfortunately was unable to stomp what could have been a first place run, landing a cab900 indy but reverting out on his impressive bs1260 mute attempt – still finishing his run off in style with a switch boardslide 270out on the polejam and a lipslide 270out on the downrail, enough for third place. Nike Chosen at Mountain High
Lights, camera, smoke, ACTION! The NIKE Chosen event exploded Friday night at Mountain High in a sea of sound, strobes, and solid snowboarding. With GT of Von Zipper and Nike rider Mason Aguirre on the mic and DJ YNot laying down the beats, top riders and NIKE Pros descended on the Playground jib park in this one-of-a-kind nighttime rail jam. The course consisted of a signature rainbow box painted by madsteez.com, a stair set, a concrete ledge, and three quarterpipes connected by two corrugated tubes. Riders like Ian Sams, Yeager Bailey and Danika Duffy destroyed the down rails while Kyle Lopiccolo, Spencer Link, Cory Cronk and Erik Leon were boosting out of the quarterpipe. It was Mountain High's own Ryan Paul who took first and best trick with his backside 360 50/50 on the stair set. Ian Sams took second place with his proper tricks on every feature while Yeager Bailey managed third with his style and flip tricks. Melissa Evans from Big Bear won the Women's division with her relentless domination of the stair set and quarterpipe.

TTR O'Neill Evolution 2012 - Big Air Finals
DAVOS, 7 January 2012 - In the Swiss winter wonderland of Davos, Canadians Spencer O’Brien and Mark McMorris won the 6Star Big Air competition at the O’Neill Evolution. Gripping until the last run, Mark was followed closely by Eric Willet (USA) and Seppe Smits (BEL) in third place. Swiss rider, Sina Candrian, came second, followed by rookie Anna Gasser (AUT) in the women's competition.The women’s final was extremely exciting, counting in rookies like 3rd placed Anna Gasser (AUT), leaving some experienced favorites behind. It was Anna’s last run that secured her spot on the podium. With a stylish Backside 540 Mute Grab and Frontboard to 50-50 Frontside Out on the rail, she surprised everyone, including herself. Amongst a thrilled crowd of thousands, the men’s final was exciting down to the last run. Eric Willett lost his first and second run lead to Mark McMorris by only 0.30 points, with Mark performing a nearly perfect Backside Double Cork 1260 Mute Grab and Gap switch hardway to 270 out on the rail. None of the finalists were holding back in going BIG, which influenced the atmosphere amongst the spectators tremendously, giving the riders the necessary energy to perform.In the Big Air Tour ranking, Eric Willett grabs the lead from Roope Tonteri (FIN). Seppe Smits advanced from 12th to 5th position, remaining in his 5th position in the Overall Rankings. O’Neill Evolution was the last Big Air contest before the Big Air final Billabong Air&Style on February 4th, in Innsbruck, Austria, where the TTR Big Air Tour Champion will be crowned.

Fresh off his best year as a pro including winning the 2011 Street League overall title, the 22-year-old skateboarder from Kansas City, MO begins 2012 by announcing he'll be joining the powerhouse team of Nike Skateboarding.

With 2011 coming to an end, the best of list are beginning to pour in. Our favorite best of comes from Skateboarder Magazine's Straight to the Internet series. TTR Sprint U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mens Halfpipe - Mitrani, Vito, Bretz
Luke Mitrani (Stratton Mountain, VT) put down a huge first run to win. "This is crazy because I didn't even snowboard this summer. I just skateboarded a lot and took my mind off snowboarding, so to jump back into it is crazy to win a contest. I'm shocked. My strategy was to just focus on my riding and feed off of other people. When someone does something big it makes me want to ride even harder for myself."Pro Halfpipe Team member Greg Bretz (Anaheim) placed third behind defending champion Louie Vito (Columbus, OH) in a contest full of upping the ante, as riders put down frontside 12s and a even few back-to-back double cork 10s while afternoon shadows moved over the Copper halfpipe.The Copper Grand Prix had some major influence on the TTR Rankings. New leader of the TTR Halfpipe World Tour Ranking is Louie Vito, after coming in second here at Copper Mountain. Christian Haller, taking 5th place here, moved from the 10th to the 5th position making it into the top 5. Entering the top 10 from the 33rd position is Nathan Johnstone with his 8th place this weekend.

Dyrdek has performed millions of kick flips in his life, but needless to say this was his first not on a skateboard. He performed the stunt at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California while filming for the season premiere of his reality program on MTV, "Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory".

TTR Monster Fridge Festival Budapest 2011
In a scenic setting right next to Budapest's 'Hero Square', Pat Burgener won the Big Air contest with a backside 1080 and a stylish cab 900 mutegrab, witnessed by a massive audience.A doublecork 900 plus backside 1080 secured Ulrik Badertscher's second place, followed by Kevin Backström's cab 900 and frontside 1080 bronze run. With 12,000 people cheering on their favorite riders, the Varosliget Park venue was at it's full capacity, and provided a pumping party afterwards. Thumping to the beat of the Infected Mushrooms and Freestylers, this is a festival not to be missed, and a great reason to check out the capitol of Hungary.
