A German crew by the name of FUS was the surprise winner of the inaugural Nike Chosen Crew Video Contest, which pitted 1700 skate, BMX and surf crews from around the world against each other. The Nike team made the final call after nine regional finalists were named. In the end, riders like Julian Wilson and P-Rod felt the German'screative fusion of surfing, river-surfing, and sophisticated cinematography vaulted them to the top of the heap, which was no easy task considering the amazing collection of crews they were up against.
Sal Masakela announced them as the victors live during the US Open of Surfing Sunday, just before Kelly Slater reminded everyone why he's a 10-time world champion. The winter counterpart to the Nike Chosen competition begins in a few months, stay tuned for that.
