The unique vert contest featured three generations of skateboarders teaming up to compete in four mini contests. In front of a solid crowd on the famed Venice Beach boardwalk the team of Tony Hawk, Andy Macdonald, and Mitchie Brusco took first place at the first-ever Sonic Generations of Skate.

Years ago Chris Rene was merely a popular member of the thriving skateboarding scene in and around Santa Cruz, California, a town steeped in surf/skate culture. Life was fun and simple then. Like a handful of his friends, when he wasn't rolling through town or sliding down rails at the skate park he was usually playing music. Sadlly, he also started dabbling in drugs.
