Suffolk Update.
If you planned on skating the new Suffolk park at Bennett's Creek this weekend, you might want to change your plans. According to the sign the park isn't opening until April 2nd. The flat concrete at Lake Meade was being worked on today, and according to the contractor, the concrete will be stable enough to skate on in three to four days but they are probably going to be doing landscaping so I'd expect an April 2nd opening date for that park as well.

Finally Ville Uotila won the comp with a extraordinary last run stomping a switch backside double cork 1260 in the big jump, all public acclaiming him as the best run ever done in the El Tarter snowpark. But this year the show will be even better with the Burton team looking for a maiden victory in the Grandvalira Total Fight history. Parties and easy style riding are assured in the Total Fight, trademark of the last big event of the season.

But when the gates finally opened at Seaside Reef's unusually empty and eerily foggy parking lot, the bar was immediately set high for the entire day. In consistent, shoulder to head-high surf, 13 local San Diego teams vied for bragging rights, but in the end it was the reining champs from Hansen's who once again took home the title.

Competition dates and locations include - May 7- 8 at Key Arena in Seattle, WA; June 11- 12 at Sprint Center in Kansas City, MO; July 16- 17 at the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, AZ; and the championship on August 28 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. This yearfans will be able to attend two days of skateboarding events in each city, as the qualifiers will also be open to the public. New Virginia Beach Park in The Works
I just got word that Virginia Beach is building a new park at Williams Farm. Below is the full press release and information about the Design Workshop happening April 7th at Diamond Springs Elementary School. I just checked and it was roughly two years from the first design input day to the opening of Northside, so we won't likely be skating this park for a long time...
Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation will be hosting a Public Information Design Workshop for the new Williams Farm Skate Park, which is part of the Council-approved Williams Farm Recreation Center & Park project in the western Bayside area of Virginia Beach.
Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation will be hosting a Public Information Design Workshop for the new Williams Farm Skate Park, which is part of the Council-approved Williams Farm Recreation Center & Park project in the western Bayside area of Virginia Beach.
The purpose of the workshop is for the public to provide input into the design elements of the skate park, which will be sized approximately 20,000 square-feet, in-ground and concrete, with urban street plaza elements like steps and rails. Plans also include a vert ramp/bowl component and a flow park.
The meeting will be held at Diamond Springs Elementary School on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 6 – 8 pm, and is open to the public.
